In a style quite similar to Wayne Grudem in his Systematic Theology textbook, Bruce Ware contributes a great work to the world of theology and more specifically to the theological study of the Trinity. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is a great balance of theology and doxology, in which Bruce Ware not only feeds our minds, but challenges us to feed our souls.
Ware begins with a chapter devoted to establishing the reason and importance of this doctrine – which is simply to know the person of God more intimately. Because the book focuses on the relationships within the Trinity, Ware appeals to our own relationships and considers how they might suffer if we were spared any details and information that would only benefit us. He says succinctly, “The focus of our study of the Trinity will be to examine especially the ways in which the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit relate to one another, how they relate to us, and what difference this makes in our lives” (Ware, p. 14-15, emphasis original). He then proceeds to explain ten reasons why we should spend time thinking on the subject of the Trinity. These reasons include ideas such as the centrality of the Trinity to the Christian faith, the proper understanding of prayer in relation to the roles within the Trinity, and also the Trinity’s example to us in our own roles of submission and authority.

I didn't have my check book on me the morning he preached, so you got a head start on me. I am reading (and enjoying) Father, Son, and Holy Spirit now though.
Yeah, the book is good, but hearing him teach it "live and in the flesh" when I took his theology class was even better! But I'm not bragging! :o)
Actually, he's not my new favorite theologian anymore...not after I took his test yesterday. Dude - this guy's multiple choice questions were harder than his essay questions!

I've made a covenant with my heart not to discuss the test. Lest it stir up anger in my heart toward the instructor.
