The Pre-Mill, Post-Trib Return of...Superman??

He's returning...and about as fast as a bb with a low CO2 cartridge (when was the last Superman movie made...the 80's...doesn't really matter, the last few were a waste). I'm ready though, for the new one.. I loved the first couple of Superman movies (the last few were a waste) and Batman had a few good ones - however the most recent "Batman Begins" was the best, in my opinion. Perhaps because it was more realistic, you know, like it could really happen. Well, at least it could really happen if you spent years on top of mountain getting your rear kicked as you're being trained by some ninjas and then come home to a family fortune where you had instant access to all the unused governmnet weapons that your late father invented...oh, and you had a cave under your house. Anyway, it gave me hope. Actually, as a kid, I always wanted to be Robin (notice the blogger profile image!), not Batman. I don't know why...I'm sure there's some pychological explanation for that.

And what about the Hall of Justice and the Superfriends? Remember them? Now, apart from the afternoon Batman series and dreams of being the boy wonder, there was also the childhood dream of being in the Justice League. Again, being the humble caped crusader wanna be that I was (or wanted to be), I never wanted to be Superman...or Batman...and certainly not Wonderwoman. The Wonder Twins? Yeah, maybe.

But my hero...the Green Lantern. Remember him!?

He was...um...green.

And he had a lantern.

"Stand back you villian! I've got a green light and it's really bright...and...green! It will really damage your retinas!"

I guess Blue Bic Boy and Fuschia Flashlight Girl didn't make the induction into the Hall of Justice. Doesn't matter...they've re-vamped all the heroes now, so they don't even look the same. It isn't right. Take a look the more recent Green Lanterns.

Anyhoo...watched the teaser trailer tonight for the new Superman Returns movie and heard this line quoted by Jor-El (Superman's father):

Even though you've been raised as a human being you're not one of them. They can be a great people Kal-El. They wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all their capacity for good, I sent them you... my only son

Kind of like Shmi Skywalker in Episode I when answered the question about Anikan's father:

There was no father. I carried him, I gave birth, I raised him. I can't explain what happened.

Or what about all the supposed biblical allusions in the Matrix movies? I'm sure there are a ton of weblinks out there trying the find the "Jesus" in Hollywood (I even googled one site called "HollywoodJesus"....I spent all of 6 seconds there. It's not worth even linking here.

What other movies have such imagery and what are your thoughts of them? Anyone?

BTW, I think I have a point to all this...so, more to come on Jesus in the movies and superheroes...
