Vintage Calendars

I've had these calendars for some time now (not since the 1950's though!) I finally got them scanned & edited for the blog. The first calendar below is from 1954 and was put out by the Family Store and Beauty Shop, Phone 165.  Wow.  A three digit phone number!
If there's a Sheridan resident out there who knows anything about this Family Store, I'd love to hear about it.

The artwork on here is classic! Makes me long for Christmas!

These "Household Hints" are pretty interesting.  Click on the image to enlarge and read up on some sage advise, like scratching your nails on a damp piece of soap before working in the garden.  Makes them easier to clean afterward!

The calendar below comes with a handy thermometer and an attractive, faux leather-covered backboard.  Makes for an attractive hanging piece.  If you could just avoid thinking about death every time you checked to see what day it was...
